1961

Taconic was founded by Lester T. Russell, widely recognized for developing the process of applying PTFE to woven fiberglass. What began with Lester and Virginia Russell has grown into a global organization headquartered in Petersburgh, New York.

Today, Taconic manufactures PTFE coated glass fabrics, PTFE tapes, skived PTFE tapes, silicone coated glass fabrics, and conveyor belts for industrial applications including food processing, packaging, automotive, composites, and aerospace.

1972

Lester Russell served as company president until his retirement in 1972. The Russell family’s involvement continued through the next generation, with Gordy Russell joining the business in the mid-1960s and Andy Russell continuing that legacy as CEO.
