TacSil F20BP is a reusable silicone carrier material designed to support flexible PCB and thin rigid PCB assembly during SMT processing. It helps provide precise surface mounting, excellent dimensional stability, and dependable temporary fixation without adhesive residue.

Available in sheet or roll form, TacSil offers a cost-effective alternative to polyimide tapes, resin coated plates, and double-sided tapes that can increase costs, reduce productivity, contaminate circuitry, or reduce print accuracy.

Application Overview

A cleaner, reusable way
to hold delicate assemblies.

During SMT processing, flexible and thin rigid boards require stable temporary fixation to maintain print accuracy and support precise placement. TacSil F20BP uses a reusable silicone surface to hold components in place while avoiding adhesive residue on the assembly.

TacSil performs for more than 500 cycles in SMT processing and maintains excellent dimensional stability at 500°F, helping improve productivity while reducing the need for disposable tapes and temporary fixing materials.

TacSil F20BP combines release liner protection, a reusable silicone compound, PTFE coated fiberglass, heat resistant silicone adhesive, and PET release film to create a reusable carrier material designed for temporary holding applications.

This construction supports repeat use, clean removal, and stable processing performance for demanding carrier designs.

SMT Processing

How TacSil is
applied and used.

Pre-Aging Guidance

Durostone or aluminum boards should be pre-aged before applying TacSil to remove entrapped air within the board.

  • Pre-age at 500°F for more than 3 minutes or run one SMT reflow cycle.
  • Attach TacSil to Durostone 2 hours after pre-aging.
  • For aluminum boards, attach TacSil before the board cools below 100°F.

Application Steps

  1. Pre-age the Durostone or aluminum carrier if required.
  2. Clean the carrier board surface with alcohol.
  3. Remove the clear release liner from the adhesive side.
  4. Attach the adhesive side of TacSil to the board.
  5. Remove the amber PI film liner from the silicone side.
  6. Place the FPC on the silicone surface.

Cleaning & Reuse

Proper cleaning can extend TacSil life. Clean the active surface when tack is no longer high enough to hold the FPCB.

  • Recommended: available cleaning roller.
  • Alternative: soft cloth moistened with Ethanol.
  • Not recommended: Acetone, toluene, xylene, or other aggressive solvents.
 

Storage Conditions

Protect material performance
before use.

Store TacSil in original packaging at 73°F +/- 4°F and 50 +/- 2% relative humidity. Keep material away from direct UV exposure, oils, and other contaminants.
